Nepal's Poor Football Show 

The FIFA World Cup concluded last week with Spain winning Argentina in the final match. In this World Cup, FIFA selected 48 teams, up from 32 teams earlier, to make it more inclusive. The countries like Curacao and Cape Verde qualified. Curacao has a population of roughly 150,000 and a landmass of 444 square km and became the smallest nation to ever qualify. Cape Verde (a population of 530,000 people) managed to reach the round of 32 by drawing every game and put up a good fight against the reigning world champions, Argentina. Now, seeing how small nations like these qualify for the World Cup, Nepal has had a very disappointing football history, failing to qualify for any major football event like the World Cup and the Asia Cup. Nepal’s current FIFA ranking is 177, which is extremely low considering the population.
