Private Sector Calls for Social Harmony Amidst Tarai-Madhes Incidents

Kathmandu. Expressing concern over incidents in some districts of Tarai-Madhes, the private sector has called for maintaining social harmony. The private sector has emphasized the need for harmony rallies and administrative initiatives to resolve the situation that arose in Devanaganj Rural Municipality-3, Captainganj in Sunsari and subsequently in some districts of Eastern Nepal.

The presidents of the three umbrella organizations of the private sector have issued a joint statement appealing to maintain social, religious, and communal tolerance. The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Confederation of Nepalese Industries, and the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, in their statement, reminded all concerned parties that the country's economy is in a difficult situation and made it clear that prosperity is not possible if harmony is disrupted. They have also urged for the immediate restoration of social harmony.
