World Breastfeeding Week Begins With Focus on Sustainable Starts

Kathmandu. World Breastfeeding Week, celebrated every year in the first week of August with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), health ministries of various countries, and civil society organizations, has begun today.

This year, Breastfeeding Week is being celebrated with the theme 'Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start to Life: Strengthening Effective Practices'. The campaign emphasizes the need to continue effective practices for promoting breastfeeding and to support mothers and newborns through health systems, communities, workplaces, and government policies.
