Kathmandu. With the objective of establishing ethnic and religious tolerance and peace in the country, sister organizations of the Nepali Congress have organized a goodwill rally in the capital. This rally was held to spread a message of social harmony amidst the recent religious and ethnic tensions in various districts of the Terai. On August 10, two people died in a clash between two communities in Kapotaganj, Sunsari. Similarly, after one more person died from police gunfire while controlling the religious conflict that arose in Siraha, the security situation in the Terai districts became tense. Following these incidents, prohibitory orders are still in effect in some areas of the Terai and the social environment has become uncomfortable, against this backdrop, sister organizations of the Congress have demonstrated in Kathmandu and appealed for peace and goodwill.
Participants in the rally emphasized the need for mutual harmony and brotherhood among all religions and castes existing in society.
