Fair Finance Matters

The five-point agreement between the government and the representatives of the victims of microfinance has given a sigh of relief since the protest and hunger strike going on in the country has come to an end. The choice to solve the issue in a peaceful way is indeed praiseworthy. However, the history of Nepal has shown that many accords were made with the hopes and expectations of people, yet later they became part of the list of failures due to lack of political willpower and proper implementation. The accord's main commitment is the implementation of recommendations made in a report, which was compiled almost two years ago. If the report had provided solutions to the problems in the microfinance industry, what would be the need for public demonstrations and hunger strikes to make the government consider the report ?
