Kathmandu. The government has initiated the process of extending the deadline for projects that are 50 percent complete and have been stalled for a long time. With the government's Public Procurement (15th Amendment) Regulations, 2083 opening the way for deadline extensions, preparations are underway to extend the deadlines for various large and incomplete projects, including the under-construction Parliament building in Singha Durbar.
It has been revealed that the Balen government amended the Public Procurement Regulations, 2064, for the 15th time under continuous pressure from contractors. Despite the government publishing a notice in the gazette for the final extension of deadlines for stalled and expired construction projects, strong dissatisfaction has been expressed from within the Prime Minister's Office regarding this decision.
