Annapurna Rural Municipality Declares Public Holiday for Nirmal Purja

Myagdi . The Annapurna Rural Municipality in Myagdi has declared a public holiday on Monday in mourning of the death of world-record holding mountaineer Nirmal Purja, known as 'Nims Dai'. Purja, who was born in Dana, Annapurna-3, died in an avalanche during his ascent of Pakistan's 'Broad Peak'.

A notice issued today by the Rural Municipality Chairman Bharatkumar Pun stated that Purja's death has shocked and saddened the entire Myagdi community, including the Rural Municipality family. Expressing sorrow over his death, the Rural Municipality has decided to grant a public holiday on Monday for all offices, wards, health institutions, and schools, except for essential services.
