Farmers Face Hardship Due to Poor Management of Chemical Fertilizer Distribution

Janakpurdham. Farmers are facing hardship and suffering due to the inability of local municipalities to properly manage the distribution of chemical fertilizers provided at 70 percent subsidy by the government.

The quota of fertilizer for municipalities is determined based on the area of arable land in coordination with the Ministry of Land Management and Cooperatives, from the federal, provincial, to the local level. Under this, there is a policy practice of a 3-member team led by the deputy mayor or vice-chairperson in the municipalities determining the fertilizer quota for wards.
