Bengal Woman Survives Nepal Flood After Visa Rejection

Kolkata. A woman from West Bengal has been saved from the devastating floods in Nepal after her visa was rejected. The life of 61-year-old Tapati Singha, who could not join the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra team, was saved due to the cancellation of her visa. If her visa had been approved, she would have been among the 32 pilgrims currently missing during the pilgrimage to Nepal. A total of 33 citizens from West Bengal had planned this journey. Disappointed by not getting a visa, Tapati changed her plan and chose to visit Ladakh. According to Tapati, who told PTI, she is cutting short her Ladakh trip and returning to Kolkata. She said, 'I have landed in Delhi and will reach Kolkata airport by evening.' Tapati, who had been preparing for the 13-day trip through a travel agency in Kolkata since May, had attended many meetings and shopping with the group. Just a few days before the trip, she was informed that her visa had been cancelled for no reason. The decision that shocked her has now become a lifesaver for her. Meanwhile, 359 people have died in Nepal due to floods. Representatives in Nepal connected with the Kolkata travel agency have not been able to establish contact with the 32 missing tourists. Four officials from the agency have arrived in Nepal and expressed hope of receiving prompt information.
