Fact Check: Government Accepted Memorandum Submitted by the Samyukta Hindu Morcha, Did Not Sign 13-Point Agreement

Kathmandu. Since Saturday, various claims have been circulating on social media regarding the ongoing religious tensions in the Terai region. Among them is a claim that the government has agreed to initiate discussions on restoring Nepal as a Hindu nation through an all-party mechanism. Another claim suggests that a 13-point agreement has been signed between the government and the Samyukta Hindu Morcha.

However, a fact-check conducted by the TechPana Fact Check Desk has found these claims to be misleading. In reality, the Samyukta Hindu Morcha submitted a 13-point memorandum to Home Minister Sudhan Gurung. The document contains demands put forward by the Morcha and does not bear any signature from the government side. Therefore, the claim that the government and the Morcha have reached an agreement is misleading.
