Government Proposes New Animal Service and Welfare Bill, 2083

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forest and Environment has published the draft of the 'Animal Service and Animal Welfare Bill, 2083' with the objective of making the country's livestock sector modern, competitive, and dignified. If this bill is enacted into law, the approximately three-decade-old 'Animal Health and Animal Service Act, 2055' will be completely repealed. The new bill integrates animal welfare, regulation of animal product quality, biosecurity, international trade, animal disease control, and market regulation in one place.
