Man Shares Wife's Last Words After She Went Missing in Nepal Floods

Kathmandu. Pramod Poudel, who was in the UK, has made public the last conversation he had with his newlywed wife before she went missing in the devastating flood in Rasuwa. Poudel had spoken to his wife Sumitra for the last time on Wednesday, before the flood in the Bhote Koshi river. Pramod, a 34-year-old truck driver living in East Sussex, said that he has not been able to contact Sumitra, 25, who was staying with her family in the heavily affected village of Sole since then. During a phone call with his wife a few hours before the glacial lake burst, she had said, 'How are you? I love you very much.' Pramod has arrived in Nepal in search of his wife, his mother Tulsa, 52, brother Pradip, 31, and uncle माधव, 64. He said, 'I am very hopeful of finding them, and I am praying to God.' He stated that 90 percent of the people and houses in the area have been washed away by the flood and nothing remains in the village. The death toll from floods in Nepal has reached around 800, with more than 2,400 people still missing. According to Chinese authorities, 546 people, including 246 foreign nationals, are missing in Tibet. A total of 33 British citizens, including two teenagers, are missing in this region. The British government has sent £5 million in humanitarian aid along with a rescue and search team to Nepal. Among those missing is Geeta Reddy, a mother of two from London. Her husband said that he has had no contact with his wife since the flood, and their daughters, aged 12 and 14, have not yet lost hope of their mother's return. He said, 'We are not sure what to do, the children's school is starting next week. They are thinking that she is stuck somewhere without a mother network and will return.' The water level in the Trishuli river has risen, and residents in the coastal areas have been moved to safe places. Foreign experts are engaged in opening the tunnels blocked by the flood. On the other hand, according to China's state broadcaster CCTV, drones have found another lake formed in the Himalayan region. According to the Red Cross, it is estimated that about 90,000 people have been affected by this natural disaster. Rescuers have rescued 97-year-old Guna Maya Bohara alive from the landslide. Her old age home was destroyed by the flood, and she is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital.
