Kathmandu. Congress leader Abhishek Giri has not submitted the bail set by the court. The Kathmandu District Court had ordered Giri to be released on a bail of 5 lakhs. Since the order was issued on Shrawan 15, and he did not pay the bail, Giri has been sent to jail. Giri, who rose from a gangster background, is currently in custody at Dillibazar Prison Office. He was released on bail by the court in a case of extortion from prisoners at Morang Prison, but was re-arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau of Police and brought to Kathmandu. The CIB had investigated and prosecuted Abhishek for fraud and criminal breach of trust against Subash Shrestha, the operator of Shrestha Construction Company. Earlier, he had served 9 years in jail for kidnapping and hostage-taking and was released on Chaitra 5, 2079. Police investigation has revealed that Abhishek caused financial loss to Shrestha Construction by assuring to arrange contracts based on influence and saying that he would do the work through 'his company' but did not do the work.
