Government Announces New Salary Scale for Security Personnel in Fiscal Year 2083/84, Revealing Discrepancy Between Army Chief and IGP Salaries

Kathmandu. There is a difference in the salaries of the chiefs of the Nepal Police and the Nepali Army in the new salary scale for security agency employees for the fiscal year 2083/84. According to the new schedule published by the Ministry of Finance, the monthly salary of the Inspector General (IGP) of Nepal Police is less than that of the Chief of the Nepali Army. According to the new salary scale, the total monthly salary of the Chief of the Nepali Army has been fixed at Rs 90,594. However, the monthly salary of the Inspector General (IGP) of Nepal Police has been set at only Rs 78,576. The salary of the Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Nepal Police has also been fixed at Rs 84,576. According to the salary details of other senior police officials, the monthly salary of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) has reached Rs 73,750, while Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) has been determined at Rs 70,714. Similarly, the monthly salary of Superintendent of Police (SP) is Rs 67,092, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) is Rs 62,546, and Inspector (Inspector) is Rs 60,874. For junior officers and other levels of police employees, the salary of Sub-Inspector (SI) has reached Rs 48,387, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) has reached Rs 44,577, and Senior Head Constable has reached Rs 37,648. Head Constable will receive a monthly salary of Rs 37,457, while the salary of Assistant Head Constable has been set at Rs 37,001. The monthly salary of Police Constable working at the lower level of the police has been fixed at Rs 36,338. The salary for newly recruited recruits is Rs 27,172, while the salary for police office support staff ranges between Rs 28,000 and Rs 40,000 according to their level. The government has decided to provide a 10 percent monthly incentive allowance in addition to this new salary scale, effective from Shrawan 1.
