Scientists Discover Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation

In 1965, two young scientists Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson, working on a giant horn-shaped radio antenna at Bell Labs in New Jersey, USA, were troubled by a strange problem. No matter which direction they turned the antenna towards the sky, they could not eliminate a mysterious radio signal.

They repeatedly tested for equipment malfunction, checked the electrical system, blamed the weather, and finally removed the pigeons residing inside the antenna. They even cleaned up the droppings they left behind, but the strange noise remained as it was.
