Heavy Rains Cause Landslides, Disrupting Highway Traffic Across Nepal

Kathmandu. Due to continuous rainfall, floods and landslides in various parts of the country have disrupted vehicular movement on the main highways. The Nepal Police, in an update as of 7:40 PM on July 21, stated that various road sections are completely or partially obstructed.

In Kathmandu Valley, the Sitapaila-Dharke road section in Nagarjun-8, at Thulo Khola, has been partially opened for traffic after clearing a landslide. The Koshi Province's Bhojpur, on the Mid-Hill Highway, is operating one-way due to floods, with an alternative route available. Ilam's Mechi Highway is completely blocked due to continuous rain, and an alternative route is being used.
