Kathmandu. National Planning Commission Vice Chairman Dr. Gunakar Bhatta has stated that the private sector's role is crucial in achieving a seven percent economic growth target, given that the external sector and financial sector are in a satisfactory state. Speaking at a program organized today in connection with the preparatory meeting of the National Development Problems Resolution Committee, Vice Chairman Dr. Bhatta emphasized the need to expand the private sector's role in real sector activities. He also pledged that the commission would coordinate between ministries and sectors, act as a bridge for problem-solving between the private sector and the government, and present issues raised by the private sector in the upcoming National Development Problems Resolution Committee meeting.
Khomraj Koirala, Joint Secretary of the Commission, presented and facilitated discussions on the implementation of the Sixteenth Plan, the macroeconomic situation, and the role of the private sector. The program discussed the goals of the Sixteenth Plan, its implementation status, and the government's annual target of seven percent economic growth and a USD 100 billion economy, including the policy and legal reforms the government needs to undertake to achieve these goals.
