Supreme Court Issues Interim Order on Squatter Children's Education and Resettlement

Kathmandu. The Supreme Court has issued an interim order in the name of the government to ensure the right to education for children displaced or likely to be displaced from squatter settlements and not to remove them from those places without alternatives.

The bench of Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla issued the order while hearing a writ filed by Barun Basnyal, an employee of Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC) Bagmati Province Office, and others. The court has directed the government to arrange for the enrollment of children from displaced squatter settlements in schools at the beginning of the academic session by the end of Shrawan.
