Purbahadur Gurung's Funeral Held in Swayambhu

Kathmandu. The funeral of renowned mountaineer Purbahadur Gurung (Yukta), who lost his life while climbing Broad Peak, an 8,047-meter high peak in Pakistan, was held in Swayambhu today. The body of Gurung, who died in an avalanche on Saun 14 during the climb, was brought to Nepal on Thursday evening via Qatar Airways flight.

Home Minister Sudhan Gurung and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadak Paudel paid their respects by draping the national flag of Nepal over Gurung's mortal remains. Similarly, Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa also offered his final tribute by draping the party's flag.
