FIFA President Infantino Faces Resignation Calls Amidst Controversy

As the number of countries demanding the resignation of FIFA President Gianni Infantino continues to grow, Norway has openly expressed its dissatisfaction with his leadership and urged him to step down immediately. However, 2026 World Cup co-host Mexico and runner-up Argentina have supported Infantino's leadership.

Lise Klaveness, President of the Norwegian Football Federation, demanded Infantino's resignation, stating that FIFA lacks the necessary institutional trust to be led stably. Criticism against Infantino has increased after FIFA had to withdraw its proposal to sell stakes to private investors in the World Cup.
