Body of Indian Climber Dorjee Morup to be Retrieved from Everest After 30 Years

The body, known as 'Green Boots', which has been frozen in the snow on the route to the summit of Sagarmatha for the past 30 years, is now being prepared to be brought home. The body, believed to be that of Indian climber Dorjee Morup, who died in 1996, is at an altitude of approximately 8,500 meters on Sagarmatha.

The body, found with green climbing boots, had been a familiar and grim landmark for Sagarmatha climbers for decades, as well as a landmark guiding the way to the summit of Sagarmatha. For a long time, it was believed to be the body of Tsewang Paljor, a member of the same 1996 Indian expedition team. Based on the statements of living climbers, the location of the last radio contact, and the clothes and climbing equipment found with the body, Indian authorities have also concluded that this is the body of Dorjee Morup.
