The practice of organizing Shrimad Bhagavad Katha has been prevalent in our society, which is predominantly Hindu, for centuries. When we hear Bhagavad, we understand it as singing devotional songs to God, describing the avatars of God, or narrating the divine plays of God. In reality, the Bhagavad, with its eighteen thousand verses, not only contains devotion or divine plays but also mentions other paths of spiritual pursuit such as Vedanta and Sankhya philosophy.
It is different from other Puranas in that it contains not only devotion to God and methods of worship but also priceless pearls of Vedanta philosophy. It is said in the glory of Bhagavad that each verse and each pada of this Katha contains the essence of the Vedas and Upanishads.
