Chitwan National Park Area Underground Electrification Work Progresses

Chitwan. Work on undergrounding electric wires in an eight-kilometer area of Chitwan National Park has moved forward. The work has progressed after the Nepal Electricity Authority Bagmati Province Division Office invited tenders and signed a contract. The work has been undertaken by Sharada & Sumnimavisana JV at a cost of approximately Rs 178.6 million to carry 25 megawatts of electricity. The Electricity Authority Bagmati Province Division Office stated that new underground electrification is being done again due to repeated problems with the current underground electrification. The office chief Jitendra Kumar Jha said that problems used to arise from time to time because the wire installed in the previous underground electrification was for eight megawatts. According to him, new underground electrification is being done instead of the old one. He informed that new underground electrification is being done because problems arise from time to time in electricity flow and it takes a long time to identify the problems. Office chief Jha mentioned that with the signing of the contract, the contracting company has completed the mapping work for underground electrification and is in the process of purchasing wires capable of carrying 25 megawatts of electricity. He said that the work will gain momentum after the monsoon. The Nepal Electricity Authority Chanauli Distribution Center supplies electricity to Madi. The distribution center chief Rudraraj Bist informed that there are 11,700 customers there. According to him, these customers are for domestic and irrigation purposes. Madi Municipality in the district is surrounded by forests on all sides. A large part of it falls under Chitwan National Park. Madhi residents have to use the park route to travel to and from the district headquarters Bharatpur. The work has progressed after the contract was signed on Baisakh 7, with the work to be completed within nine months.
