Urbari Municipality to Terminate Contracts with 6 Construction Companies for Non-Completion

Morang. Morang's Urlabari Municipality has initiated the process to terminate contracts with 6 construction companies for not completing work within the stipulated time. The Municipal Executive Office, Urlabari, issued a public notice on Tuesday, directing the concerned construction entrepreneurs to appear with written explanations within 15 days. The municipality stated that despite facilitating the completion of projects and providing verbal and written reminders, the entrepreneurs have shown no interest or effort in completing the construction work. The municipality clarified that the public notice was issued as per the decision of the executive meeting after the response received from the construction entrepreneurs was not satisfactory. According to the public notice, official representatives must appear with concrete reasons why the contract should not be terminated and why punitive action should not be taken, along with written explanations and evidence. The municipality has warned that if they do not appear with a reasonable cause within the stipulated 15 days, the contract will be terminated as per the terms of the procurement agreement, the Public Procurement Act 2063, and the regulations 2064, and further action will be taken according to the law. Projects facing punitive action from the municipality include the Lamatol-Bhotepul-Dada Tol-Ambari road construction in Ward No. 9, whose contract was taken by H & C, Siddhidatri, Sumnima JV Kamal-3 Jhapa. Similarly, the road to Fafulla Chowk from Ward No. 2, 4, and 9, the joint road, and the blacktopping of the road from Ambari Chakretol-Dada Tol to Chhintange Tol, and the blacktopping projects of Jorapato Ranatol and Maharajsthan roads in Ward No. 9, which were undertaken by Hing Construction & Suppliers Company Pvt. Ltd. Ratuwamai-10 Morang, are also stalled. Furthermore, the road and drain construction in Ward No. 4 and 7, contracted by Singha Construction Service Jhapa, and the construction of the Abiral Chowk to West Khayarbatti Holima Culvert and the Sample Sukumbasi settlement Jharsadi Holima Culvert in Ward No. 1, undertaken by New Kanchanjangha Construction Urlabari Morang, are also incomplete. The municipality has started the process of terminating the contract after the road maintenance work in Ward No. 1, 4, 7, and 9, contracted by Dynamic Construction Mahalakshmi-2 Dhankuta, was also not completed within the stipulated time.
