Western Europe Faces Historic Drought

West-Europe is experiencing a historic level of drought this year. Excessive heat and lack of rain have affected everything from fields to rivers and lakes, and warnings have been issued about serious impacts on human activities and ecosystems.

According to the European Copernicus Climate Change Service, soil moisture in Western Europe in July is much lower than during the severe drought of 2022. Soil moisture has been found to be 'very low' in some areas of Germany, the UK, Spain, and France.
