Bangladesh Seeks Respectful Relations with India, Aims to Resolve Key Issues

Dhaka. Bangladesh wants to build relations with India based on mutual respect and interests, and resolve issues such as the extradition of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, border disputes, and long-pending water sharing, it has been informed. Jahrat Adib Chowdhury, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Parliament of Bangladesh and a Member of Parliament from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), said that building a 'good and healthy relationship' with India is a priority for the government.
In an interview with ANI, Chowdhury said that the BNP, which formed the government after receiving a mandate in February after about two years of political instability, has adopted a 'Bangladesh First' approach in its foreign policy. He clarified that the government's policy is to advance relations with India based on a 'win-win' strategy that benefits both countries.
