Seven arrested for kidnapping and demanding ransom in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. Police have arrested seven people for kidnapping, holding hostage, and demanding a ransom of 1.8 million rupees from Naveen Raya, a resident of Mithra Nagar, Ward 26, Kathmandu Metropolitan City, originally from Shivsataxi Municipality-10, Jhapa. A special team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, took them into custody.

On August 14, police received secret information that an unknown group of 5-6 people had kidnapped Raya on August 14, held him hostage, beaten him, and demanded a ransom of 1.8 million rupees from his family.
