9 Dead in Eastern Japan Due to Heavy Rainfall

Tokiyo. Nine people have died due to heavy rainfall in eastern Japan, public broadcaster NHK reported on Sunday. Unprecedented rains have inundated more than a thousand houses, affecting road and rail services.

The torrential rains, which began on Thursday night, increased the risk of landslides and disrupted power supply. Meteorologists had issued a high-level heavy rain warning for Chiba Prefecture for the first time.
