Government Forms Task Force to Study Reopening of Birgunj Sugar Factory

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies has taken concrete steps to bring the historic Birgunj Sugar Factory, which has been closed for years, back into operation. Under the active initiative of the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Gauri Kumari Yadav, a study task force has been formed to study the current condition of the factory and prepare a feasibility study and necessary action plan for its reopening.

As per the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Government of Nepal, a task force has been formed under the convenership of CDE Shri Kant Yadav of the Ministry to analyze the physical, technical, and legal aspects of this factory, which was in the process of being abolished in the past. Ministry branch officers and industry department representative officials are members of the task force. The task force has been assigned the responsibility of submitting a report to the ministry within 15 days after completing the entire study.
