Parliamentary Session Resumes After Speaker Directs PM to Respond to Questions

Kathmandu. After the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dolprasad Aryal, ruled that Prime Minister Balendra Shah should answer the questions raised by the MPs, the opposition parties have stopped their agitation in the House. The opposition parties, which have been protesting the Prime Minister's statement for a long time, have agreed to resume the House from Monday following the Speaker's directive.

During the session on Jestha 17, Prime Minister Shah made a controversial statement in the House of Representatives that Nepal has encroached upon India's land. Since then, the opposition parties have been obstructing the House, demanding that the Prime Minister apologize or provide clarification on the serious issue related to nationality. On Monday, as soon as the meeting began, MPs from Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Nepali Communist Party, Shram Sanskriti Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party stood up from their seats to protest. The opposition demanded that the Prime Minister withdraw his controversial statement and regularize the process of the Prime Minister answering MPs' questions every first week of the month as per the provisions of the House of Representatives Regulations.
