Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal Issues Three Rulings in Parliament

Kathmandu. Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal has made three 'rulings' in the government in the Monday meeting. The Speaker directed the Prime Minister and concerned ministries to respond after opposition and ruling party MPs stood up and protested, citing the government's disregard for questions raised by MPs.

In the Monday meeting, Speaker Aryal made the first ruling directing Prime Minister Balen Shah to respond to the contemporary questions raised by the MPs in accordance with the provisions of the House of Representatives Rule of Procedure. 'I rule the Prime Minister to respond to the questions raised by the honorable MPs as per the provisions of Rule 56, 57, 58, and 59 of the House of Representatives Rule of Procedure,' the Speaker said in the meeting. Although Rule 56 provides for direct question-and-answer with the Prime Minister, MPs have been raising objections, citing the government's disregard for it.
