Janakabi Durga Lal Shrestha's Body Kept for Tributes in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. The mortal remains of Janakabi Durga Lal Shrestha, the father of Nepal Bhasha, have been kept at Newa Manka Chhay in Ward No. 15 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City for final tributes. Shrestha, 93, passed away at his residence in Budhanilkantha on Sunday night. Nepal Bhasha Academy Chancellor Krishnasundar Mall informed that Shrestha, who had been unwell recently, passed away at home. Shrestha had been actively creating literature continuously for the last six decades. He has made significant contributions in various genres of literature including poems and songs in Nepal Bhasha as well as Nepali language. The Nepal Bhasha Parishad honored Shrestha with the title of 'Janakabi' about two decades ago. The demise of Shrestha, who made incomparable contributions to the field of Nepal Bhasha and literature, has caused an irreparable loss to the literary sector.
