Cooperative and Microfinance Victims Protest at Human Rights Commission, Appeal to UN

Kathmandu. Cooperative and microfinance victims have been staging a sit-in protest at the Human Rights Commission's premises in Pulchowk for five days. The protesters, led by the Citizens Save Campaign, demanding a solution to their problems, have appealed to the United Nations, which is active in promoting human rights. The protesters, alleging that the government led by Prime Minister Balen Shah has ignored their demands, have drawn the attention of the UN Secretary-General through placards from the protest site. They have placed placards at the protest site reading, 'Balen did not listen to us, Antonio Guterres, you listen to our pain and suffering,' and 'We have no home, no family, Nepal did not see, let the United Nations see our suffering.' They submitted a memorandum to the Commission on Shrawan 29 demanding the fulfillment of agreements made with the then government in Magh 2082. After submitting the memorandum, they started a sit-in protest outside the Commission's office.
