Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari Meets Victims Protesting at National Human Rights Commission Office

Lalitpur. Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari met with victims of usury, cooperatives, microfinance, landless squatters, and disorganized settlements who were protesting outside the National Human Rights Commission office in Pulchok, Lalitpur. She reached Pulchok on Tuesday to meet the victims who are protesting demanding a solution to their problems. The victims, who arrived in Kathmandu after a padyatra from various districts of the Madhes, submitted a memorandum to the National Human Rights Commission on Shrawan 29. After that, they started a continuous protest program outside the commission's office. Today, on the fifth day of the protest, victims are sitting in Pulchok holding placards with their various demands, seeking justice. Citizens who have been trapped in the debt trap of usury, cooperatives, and microfinance for years and are facing housing problems are protesting in Kathmandu to get their demands met. Former President Bhandari, who reached the protest site, expressed concern about the problems and demands of the victims.
