GANDAKI PROVINCE FACES DELAYS IN DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS DUE TO FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OBSTACLES

Pokhara. Land acquisition for the provincial-level industrial zone, a process initiated since the establishment of the Gandaki Province government, has not yet been completed. Industrial zones were proposed as provincial pride projects in Lokaha Khola of Nawalpur and Punditar of Kaski. Although a detailed project report (DPR) has been prepared for the industrial zone and an initial environmental report (IEE) has also been completed, the construction work has not progressed due to the federal government's failure to provide the necessary land. The Provincial Development Problem Resolution Committee had decided to request the federal government to facilitate land acquisition and possession for industrial zones, all pride projects, administrative buildings, and development construction. This decision has been repeated verbatim seven times. The file seeking to amend the Land Acquisition Act, 2034, to grant the province the right to the land acquisition process, is stuck in the federal ministry, leaving dozens of provincial development projects in limbo.
