Gunla Festival Begins with Religious Fervor

KATHMANDU: The month-long Gunla Parva, one of the most important religious and cultural festivals of the Buddhist and Newar communities in the Kathmandu Valley, began on August 19 Wednesday with various religious rituals, traditional music and cultural activities.
Celebrated during the ninth month of the Nepal Sambat calendar, Gunla is a festival deeply rooted in the religious traditions and cultural heritage of the Newar Buddhist community. The festival brings together religious devotion, traditional music, pilgrimage and community participation across Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur.
