Rastriya Prajatantra Party Denies Support for Chief Minister Candidacy in Bagmati Province

Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has clarified that it has not consented to the letter claiming support for CPN-UML's Kiran Thapa as Chief Minister in the Bagmati Provincial Assembly. General Secretary and Secretariat Chief Rajendra Gurung has requested the Province Chief of Bagmati Province not to recognize the said letter by writing to him. RPP has stated that the working committee meeting held on Shrawan 20 decided not to participate in the power politics of any provincial government in the current situation. The responsibility to make decisions regarding the provincial government has been given to the chairman. Furthermore, on Bhadra 1, the parliamentary party leader was instructed to remain neutral in voting and support processes until further instructions are received. RPP has requested the Province Chief not to recognize the letter submitted without any party decision and instruction, as it does not have consent. RPP has reiterated its stance of 'not participating in the mathematical power game of the provincial government' and 'remaining neutral until the chairman's appropriate decision or further party instruction is received'. Meanwhile, against the central directive, RPP Bagmati Province Parliamentary Party leader Uddhav Thapa has supported the leadership of CPN-UML's Kiran Thapa Magar. According to Thapa, coordination was underway with the center regarding the Bagmati government. Stating that it is their responsibility to provide a way out of the difficult situation in the province, leader Thapa claimed that RPP is not a party that desperately seeks power.
