Global Concerns Rise Over Children's Social Media Use Amidst Legal Battles and Age Restrictions

Social media and digital technology have made people's daily lives easier and faster. However, tech leaders who played a leading role in building the digital world are strictly controlling their children's social media and screen use. They do not allow their children to spend long hours on mobile, computer, or social media.

Peter Thiel, an early investor in Facebook, said in 2024 that his three-and-a-half and five-year-old children would only use screens for 90 minutes a week. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates did not give his children mobile phones until they were 14 years old. Google CEO Sundar Pichai also said his 11-year-old son does not use a phone. Apple CEO Tim Cook said he keeps his nephew away from social media.
