Japanese Encephalitis Deaths Rise in Jhapa with Monsoon Onset

Jhapa. With the onset of the monsoon, the number of deaths from Japanese Encephalitis (JE) infection in Jhapa has been increasing.

After a 64-year-old woman from Mechinagar Municipality-8 died from JE infection, the number of people who lost their lives to JE in the district has reached six. According to Vishwanath Shrestha, Public Health Inspector at the District Health Office, the woman died last week. With this, the number of JE infected people in the district has reached 11. So far, four women and two men have died.
