Woman Rescued From Forced Labor in Kuwait

Kathmandu. A woman who was sent to Kuwait as a domestic worker and held captive for about a month and a half has been rescued. The woman was rescued on August 15 in coordination with the Government of Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the concerned embassy.
In the process of searching for the individuals involved in the said act, a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office has arrested 31-year-old Mamata Pachhai, a resident of Devchuli Municipality-11, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East), currently residing in Thapagaun, Tarkeshwor Municipality-7, Kathmandu. She has been sent to the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau, Babar Mahal, for further investigation and action on the charge of human trafficking and smuggling. Preliminary investigation revealed that Mamata used to contact various people online through social media such as Facebook and WhatsApp. Under the pretext of sending women to Kuwait as domestic workers with attractive salaries and benefits, she used to call women to Kathmandu.
