Investigation into Assets of Close Associates of Former Prime Ministers Underway

The issue of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) initiating an investigation into the assets of personal secretaries, relatives, and close individuals associated with former Prime Ministers Sher Bahadur Deuba, KP Sharma Oli, and Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' is currently a subject of public debate. News has emerged that a 13-page asset declaration form was filled out, and since the details were not satisfactory, preparations are being made to summon them for questioning.

For a long time in Nepali politics, an informal power circle has formed around the Prime Minister. Prime Ministers have changed. Governments have changed. Alliances have shifted. However, the politics of access for family, relatives, personal secretaries, and close individuals has largely remained the same. As proximity to the center of power is considered political qualification, a certain group of people has been desperately trying to get close for opportunities.
