Supreme Court Issues Show Cause Order on Medical Entrepreneur Durga Prasai's Habeas Corpus Writ

Kathmandu. The Supreme Court has issued a 'show cause' order in the name of the government on medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai's habeas corpus writ. A single bench of Justice Nripadhwaj Niroula issued this order in the name of the opposition in the habeas corpus writ of Prasai. The court, after preliminary hearing on the writ filed by Prasai's wife Uma Prasai, has ordered to present a written response within 24 hours excluding the travel time, stating the basis and reasons why Prasai should not be detained. Such a response has been asked to be submitted through the Office of the Attorney General. Furthermore, the court has directed the District Police Complex Bhaktapur to present the items allegedly recovered during the search of Prasai's house on August 21st in court on the next date of hearing.
