India launches rescue operation as bulk carrier sinks off east coast

Rescue teams are searching for 22 missing crew members after the Panama-flagged vessel sank about 240 nautical miles from India’s Paradip port while carrying iron ore to Singapore.

India’s maritime rescue agency lost communication on Saturday with a Panama-flagged cargo vessel that sank off the coast of eastern India, the Indian Coast Guard said.
