Kathmandu. The Third International Mother Tongue Journalism Conference-2083 has issued a 19-point Kathmandu Declaration for the conservation of 124 languages spoken in Nepal and the development of mother tongue journalism.
The conference, organized by the Federation of Indigenous Nationalities Journalists (FONIJ) and coordinated by Newa Journalists National Daboo, held in Kathmandu from Shrawan 24 to 27, concluded that mother tongue journalism should be established as the basis for social justice, linguistic conservation, and inclusive democracy.
