Pakistan Women's Team Intensifies Preparation for T20 Asia Cup

Islamabad. The Pakistan team has intensified its preparation for the Women's T20 Asia Cup starting in Dubai at the end of this month. It has been a decade since Pakistan played the final of this competition. The team, which was defeated by Sri Lanka in the semi-finals of the last edition, aims to go further this time. As part of its preparation, the Pakistan women's team played practice matches against the men's team of Abdul Qadir Cricket Academy at the NCC in Lahore. These 20-over full matches were organized to enhance the players' ability to make decisions in difficult situations and to handle pressure against strong opponents. Team captain Fatima Sana said that these matches have greatly helped in the team's preparation. Sana said, 'We are fully prepared for the competition. We have played competitive matches against the boys' team where pressure was put on us. The lessons learned from this will help in dealing with the challenges of the competition.' Pakistan has suffered defeats in recent T20 matches due to an inability to handle pressure. In this year's T20 World Cup, Pakistan could only defeat the Netherlands, while missing opportunities in matches against South Africa, Bangladesh, India, and Australia. Captain Fatima Sana's performance was excellent for Pakistan in the World Cup. She took 11 wickets throughout the competition and also made excellent contributions with the bat. According to Sana, handling pressure in big tournaments is important. She added, 'These practice matches have helped us handle pressure and the effect will be seen on the field. It is very important to stay calm rather than panic in difficult times. We have told the players to stay calm in crucial moments, believe in their own hard work, and play according to the plan.' The Women's Asia Cup will be held in Dubai from August 28 to September 13. Pakistan, in Group 'A', will start the competition with its first match against Thailand on September 1. After that, it will face India on September 5 and Hong Kong on September 7. Captain Sana expressed confidence that playing in Dubai will be easy as the conditions there are similar to Pakistan.
