Rabies Infection Confirmed in Livestock in Eastern Chitwan

Chitwan. Rabies infection has been observed in livestock raised in Ratnanagar, eastern Chitwan. Symptoms of rabies have appeared in animals in the municipal area. Infection has been confirmed in samples from Ratnanagar Wards 9 and 10.

According to Dr. Prabhat Neupane, Chief of the Veterinary Service Office, the infection was confirmed in Jersey cows. He stated that cows and buffaloes with this disease salivate, hit their heads against walls, try to bite people or other animals, refuse to drink water, refuse to eat grass, reduce milk production, and die. Although rabies vaccines are administered to dogs and cats, other livestock are not typically vaccinated.
