Two Arrested in Jhapa for Forcing Minor into Sex Trade

Jhapa. Police have arrested two people on the charge of luring a 13-year-old girl to a hotel in Damak, Jhapa, and forcing her into sex work. Those arrested are Junu alias Parvati Rishika, originally from Kerabari Rural Municipality-9, Devijhoda, Morang, but residing in the Damak area, and Ganesh Prasad Adhikari, 55, residing in Damak Municipality-8, Jhapa. The girl had left home voluntarily on July 17 and gone out of contact. Her relatives had filed a complaint at the Damak Area Police Office seeking her whereabouts. Police found the girl on August 20 while searching for her. During the investigation, it was revealed that Parvati Rishika lured the girl and took her to Manakamana Hotel and Lodge, operated by Ganesh Prasad Adhikari. After it was found that the girl was forced into sex work at the hotel, police took both individuals under control. Police presented both arrested individuals in the Jhapa District Court on August 23 and obtained permission for further investigation by extending their detention period on charges of human trafficking and transportation.
