Kathmandu. The official email account of the Argentine Football Association (AFA) was compromised in a cyberattack shortly after Argentina's controversial 3-2 victory over Egypt, with unauthorized emails sent to journalists falsely claiming the team did not deserve the win.

According to Argentine news outlet La Calle , emails sent from AFA's official institutional account stated that "Argentina did not win" and claimed the result was "the outcome of a corrupt referee's decision." The messages also praised Egypt's performance, despite Argentina's victory.
