At Least 15 Newborns Die in Islamabad Hospital Fire

Islamabad. At least 15 newborns have died in a fire at the newborn baby ward of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital in Pakistan's capital Islamabad. According to local media Geo News, the incident occurred on Wednesday in the hospital's nursery.

There were 16 newborn babies in the ward when the fire broke out. Hospital officials said only one of them was rescued safely. According to officials, initial information suggests that the fire started after the compressor of the air conditioner inside the nursery exploded.
