Chitwan on High Alert as Floodwaters Approach

Chitwan. The Chitwan District Administration Office has adopted high alert as a large flood from the Rasuwa region is entering Chitwan. Analyzing the extent of damage caused by the flood in the upper coastal areas, security preparations have been intensified in Chitwan, anticipating a major risk. According to Chitwan's Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal, as the flow of the Trishuli and Narayani rivers is increasing, residents of the coastal areas have been started to be relocated to safe places. CDO Aryal said, 'Based on the level of damage that has occurred upstream, our analysis is that Chitwan can also be affected. Therefore, we have already started moving the residents of the riverine areas to safe places.' The administration is disseminating information through public address systems in coordination with local levels. Especially, settlements along the Trishuli and Narayani rivers from Fisling to Golaghat have been kept at high risk. Which areas are at risk? According to CDO Aryal, the Muglin bazaar area, settlements along the Narayani river bank in Narayangadh, coastal areas of Ward No. 16 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, and the lower parts of West Chitwan are at high risk of floods. Considering the possibility of a significant increase in the river's flow, all security teams have been kept on 'high alert'. 'Our main priority is to prevent human casualties,' Aryal added, 'As the river's flow is increasing, all preparations have been completed and security personnel are deployed in the field. Due to the continuous rain in the upper region and the resulting flood, the administration has urged the residents of Chitwan's riverbanks to remain vigilant and stay in safe places.
